Daily Timeblock notion template - Inspired by Cal Newport's Deep Work
After reading "Deep Work" by Cal Newport (great read btw), I was inspired to use his time blocking technique for my daily planning. Using a notebook, I wrote down hours in a column, and then the things I wanted to do in front of them.
I later started referring back to those daily logs to remember what I did, how long each task took, and how inaccurate I was in estimating how long a task takes.
Over time, as it became a habit, my productivity skyrocketed and I am far better at estimating now than before, all thanks to this simple yet effective method.
I ended up creating this notion template to have a digital daily log. I am a firm believer that productivity tools and methods must be dead simple, or else, they will just simply be dead. So this is a bare-bones, no fluff, dead simple notion template to use for time blocking.
How to use:
First use the given notion template link to duplicate this template for yourself.
Rename it to whatever you like, and take a look at the example day to have a sense of how to use it.
All you will need to do is to click on the "Start a New Day" button at the beginning of every day and start filling in the time blocks with your plans. If a task takes 3 hours, just copy the same text into 6 boxes. As you move forward during the day, you may need to modify this daily plan multiple times: maybe you get a phone call, maybe a task takes longer, or maybe you just need some more rest.
Remember, plans are nothing, planning is everything.
Plans are disposable, just throw them away and create another one when it deviates from a plausible reality.
You'll get a link to a notion template. Use it every day to manage your time more wisely.
